HSL Advanced Diagnostics tests

HSL-AD’s tests include immunohistochemistry (ICH), in situ hybridisation (ISH) and molecular tissue diagnostics services. 

We have one of the largest collections of antibodies and in situ probes in the UK for use on formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue sections, and are a major centre for HER2 testing using both ICH and ISH. Chromogenic in situ methods are used to test for infective agents such as cytomegalovirus and Epstein-Barr virus, and we offer referral testing for special stains, with a comprehensive test repertoire. Most stains are carried out using the Agilent Artisan, the remainder being performed manually.

Our molecular pathology tests include an HPV genotyping service for FFPE material, and the Prosigna Breast Cancer Assay, which is based on PAM50, the 50-gene classifier algorithm. Next generation sequencing tests are carried out in partnership with the Sarah Cannon Molecular Diagnostics.

We monitor all requests received into the laboratory and ensure that we have the broadest repertoire of antibodies and probes to supplement your diagnostics workflow. Referring laboratories will be contacted directly if any requested tests are not currently stocked by HSL-AD.
