Honorary Fellowship is amongst the most prestigious awards of the IBMS, recognising non-members of high repute and distinction who have demonstrated exceptional levels of support for biomedical science.

Dr Liebmann commented that she was incredibly touched by the honour as she knows how much work has gone into attaining Fellowship by biomedical scientists. She paid tribute to the extraordinary scientists she has worked with in the Sonic Healthcare UK and NHS laboratories, and in their regional and national leadership roles.

That day, Cátia Cândido received the Company Members Prize for achieving the highest marks in the IBMS Specialist Diploma in 2023. Cátia is a Senior Biomedical Scientist in Cellular Pathology at our laboratory in Northwick Park Hospital.

She said: “I am very proud to have been presented this unexpected award. It is really nice to be recognised for all the hard work we do. This was a great challenge for myself, especially studying for the exams, after coming back to work full-time following maternity leave and taking care of a small child, so I really have to thank my husband for all support at home and my manager, Rajesh Nalluri, for all the support at work."

Congratulations Dr Liebmann and Cátia!
